well, today i ran my 4th consecutive Mississauga Marathon. i started out strong but faded quickly, not surpringly, as i entered the run with a worn-out body. i battled leg/knee pain, exhaustion, and the heat, but adjusted my pace accordingly and managed to finish in fairly good shape. the most important thing was to save enough for next weekend's run, which will be my 5th marathon in 34 days. today, i ran a 4.56.03, quarter-splitting as such: 63, 70, 81, 82 minutes. it's still humbling to finish near the back of the pack, after finishing so high 2 years ago, but i seem to be handling the emotions of this better. i'm just so happy to be finishing all these runs, given that 2 months ago, completing a 30k run almost killed me!
A big congrats to Newfoundland's own Allison Hobeika, who ran her first marathon in nearly 3 years today. She was the overall female winner of today's race! i'm sure this will be big news back at home.
