April 23, 2011 - hate crime in Baltimore demonstrates the need for protection

Just as the State of Maryland is leaning towards NOT including human rights protection for trans people, a vicious hate crime attack by two cis women on a transwoman in McDonalds last week, highly illustrates the need for protection. A transwoman was minding her own business when she was brutally attacked by two young cis women. What makes this even worse is that McDonalds employees did nothing to stop the attack. In fact, one of the staff members turned on a video camera and could be overheard encouraging the attackers to escape before police arrived.

i have created a v-blog that discusses this issue. The good news is that trans advocates and allies all over the world are stepping up to the plate to raise concern about this. Eventually, the old boys club that runs most governments will start to get the message that society is no longer willing to tolerate discrimination against marginalized minorities.
