just idly curious, seems you no longer spend any time running/training? primary focus is twittering? is that a sport? i don't recall seeing anything interesting on your blog since your long walk ...err.. i mean, half marathon - what was that, a month ago? are you retired now, again?...yup, just wondering
'interesting' is in the eye of the beholder. yes, couple of light 5k runs this week so far. tweeting is producing desired results. got the attention of people i wanted to engage..
ok then, i'll take that as a 'lost interest' in running - don't worry, it happens, a lot. people get dismayed with injuries, rehab gets to be work, the times get slower and slower, and next thing you know, you relax into something less demanding. i get that. but for your own health, if and when you do decide to get 'serious' again, please, and i can't stress this enough, take the time to honestly assess where you are and set some realistic goals. you NEVER look back years ago to when you posted some moderately decent times, look at your last race and that is your starting point. if you are running 9-10 minute km's - so be it. start from there. it's unlikely you will ever get anywhere near Boston qualifying, but who cares? just try to run smart, and stay healthy at it. and don't rely on excuses - hormones didn't get you where you are, poor eating and a sedentary lifestyle did. in the meantime, do you really think twitter is the new media? you think a bunch of people wasting their workday tweeting whatever catches their eye makes a difference? try volunteering on something other than your own gain...it can change your negative outlook in a profound way. anyhow, this post was really about the joy of running, healthy running. i honestly do hope you someday get back there. there is nothing quite like it. believe me. i know.
physical health and fitness is a very important part of having a happy and successful life. yes, i def need to pay more attention to this. hoping that the end of the long newfoundland winter/spring season will find me spending more time outdoors, be it walking, running, hiking, or swimming..
