McCreath reviews her 2013 St John's Election Expenses
Bernard Davis, Ward 4 Councillor for St. John's, recently proposed to tighten the reporting rules around election candidate fund raising and expenditures. While rules state all contributions above $250 must be named, and while there is a cap on spending, there is no limit on fundraising, and there is no requirement to report expenses. Honestly, I must admit that I find it hard to believe that all candidates did not go over these spending limits. Having run a small campaign myself, I can attest that the bills add up easily and quickly.
Just to give an example, my campaign, as those of you may remember, was a rather small one. But here's an idea of the approximate money that went into mine:
Expenses:
Transportation - car rental + gas $1500
100 Black n White 2 by 2 Election Signs + Wooden stakes + Machine Screws $1200
Paper Literature $800
Additional Supplies $500
Total expenses: approx $4000
Revenue:
Total funds legally reportable $250
Total funds not legally reportable $0
Net balance to pay out of my own personal pocket $3750
I was amazed that I was never asked to report these expenses, or provide any sort of receipts. No audit appears to be done on any of the Candidates finances! I find this quite controversial, as it could open the door for abuse or unfair advantages. At the very least, the issue of transparency and accountability must come into question. I'd love to see all other candidates do a break own of their spending. I'd hazard a guess that many of the major candidates, spent upwards of $200000 on election signs alone, given how many of them I saw around the city during the campaign!

Video Look Back at SRS With Dr Brassard Jan 2011
Thought I already compiled a list of links for this. Sadly, due to privacy reasons of others filmed, I decided not to publish most of the footage, but here's a nice little compilation.....

CBC NL posts Transphobic comments! Censor's McCreath's response! 1/23/14
The following dialogue appeared on a story about Municipal politicians' fund raising declarations...
Betterthanyou: Ron Ellsworth didn't have to raise a penny if he didn't want to...anyone could have beaten that dude Jennifer!!!
Betterthanyou: Perhaps...but it's true. I could beat Jennifer in an election with just the slogan "I'm not him!!!"
WalterHarding: What happened to the CBC post guidelines ? That's a disgusting, offensive and untrue statement.
Betterthanyou: Funny thing is, I never said anything derogatory about the guy at all!!!
HarshTimez: I know its like guys from the mainland like jennifer take things so serious
-----------------------------------------
then my response, which CBC elected to block:
JenniferNL: real classy folks! and even worse that CBC allowed those transphobic comments to be posted. you all give this province a bad name!
-----------------------------------------
First of all, I recognize that there are going to anonymous trolls out there, but I think there is a responsibility among media entities to monitor their web forums to ensure transphobic comments are not posted. Their decision to allow this stuff to remain, while censoring me, is a major red flag.
Second of all, I'd like to thank Walter Harding for coming to my defense. And I would also like to say shame on the Newfoundland LGB and T communities for turning a blind eye to this.
This further proves my theory that there is still lots more work that needs to be done about trans education and awareness, both in society as a whole, and among the gay/lesbian communities.
It is stuff like this that has lead to my decision to leave this City and move somewhere else that is more accepting of diversity.

Trying to Put it Into Words - Why I Need to Move on...
This just came out of nowhere tonight as I was responding to facebook queries. I felt it was worth blogging directly, word for word......
...it's not so much about people liking me.. it's a matter of my failure to find a place in society in terms of a rewarding and fulfilling employment career path... although, in addition, my failure to realize social and romantic success is also part of the equation that has lead me to make this decision. I need to be in a big Metro city in order to maximize my success.. While I don't believe people hold individual discriminatory feelings towards me, there is definitely second degree transphobia in a sense that folks are afraid to get to close to me, work with me, hire me, etc, out of fear for what others will think...... I lost the job that brought me here back in March 2009, and have failed at over 100 job interviews since then...... I've also never truly been happy here..... I need to get out and explore the rest of the world.

McCreath Announces Plans to Leave Newfoundland!
As announced earlier on my Facebook site: Life is always full of tough choices. It is also too short to have to look back with regrets. I've got a lot of goals and dreams that haven't been met yet. I gotta put myself in the best position to maximize my potential for happiness and success. I'm not getting any younger. The future is now! and I gotta go make it happen...

Bowl Results, McCreath Polls!
Ok, yikes! So I never got around to posting my spread pics. Oh well, honestly, they weren't that great! I ended up 19-16 with my Pick Ems and 16-19 against the spread - proving that spending 100s of hours watching the games won't necessarily make you a more accurate picker! lol Oh well, it was a fun bowl season. I am also glad that this silly BCS system is now finished! Looking forward to the playoff system next season, that has been long overdue!
And since were at it, we've all seen the rankings of the Coaches Poll and Associated Press Poll, but here's my final power rankings
